Lawraett's father was Samuel Mather and her mother was Hannah (Betsy) Kay. Her paternal grandparents were William Mather and Martha Tildsey. She had five brothers and five sisters, named William, Samuel, Thomas, Herbert, Ernest, Amelia, Annie, Jesse, Matilda and Lizzie. She was the second youngest of the eleven children. She died at the age of 1 in January 1882 in Bolton.²
