Jno was born in 1805 in Adlington and his baptism took place there on August 25th, 1805.1   Jno's father was Thomas Mather and his mother was Alice. He had two brothers and three sisters, named Edward, William, Mary, Helen and Cathrin.  He was the oldest of the six children.
