Elizabeth (Betty) Mather

Elizabeth, known as Betty, was born in 1809 in Little Hulton.¹

Betty's father was Ellis Mather and her mother was Ann Thornley. She had four brothers and a sister, named James, William, John, Ellis and Alice. She was the youngest of the six children.

General Notes
- Believed to be the daughter of Ellis Mather, but cannot find baprism or marriage records to confirm (i.e. replationship only based on 1841 census and circumstantial evidence of christian names and household group).
  
  Married James Grundy, and then continued to live with father at Mather's fold in 1841. Betty named her first son Ellis, named after her father.
  
  In 1851, James and Elizabeth were publicans and had (and were living at) the Railway Tavern, Green Lane, Worsley. By 1861, then had moved to the Shaving Lane Publid House is Worsley.
