Jane was born on November 2nd, 1762 in Deane and her baptism took place on January 7th, 1763 at Bank Street Unitarian conducted by Reverend Philip Holland.1 2  Jane's father was James Lomax and her mother was Mary Nelson.  Her paternal grandparents were John Lomax and Ellen Cross. She had a brother and three sisters, named John, Mary, Happy and Alice.  She was the second oldest of the five children. She had three half-sisters named Elizabeth, Catherine and Mary.
