Ralph Kay

Ralph was born about 1792 in Halliwell and his christening took place there on February 3rd, 1793.¹

Birth Notes
- According to Death Index, Ralph was 47 when he died, so born about 1792. We cant be sure where Ralph was born, but his children were born in Halliwell, and the family were living at New Road Halliwell after he died in 1839/41.

  There are two christening/family records with James and Betty as parents from Halliwell. The date fits perfectly with a date of birth in about 1892. Also, his first daughter was Elizabeth (Betty) and second son was Samuel.

Ralph's father was James Kay and his mother was Betty Kay. He had a brother and three sisters, named James, Annie, Sarah and Betty. He was the oldest of the five children. He died in December 1839 in Bolton.²

Death Notes
- Ruth Widdow in 1851, and presumably also 1841 as Ralph not present on census, so died after 1837 (his last child was born then) but before 1841.
  
  FreeBMD has matches for 1839 and 1844, but 1839 is the more likely as wanst on 1841 census or a witness to his daughters wedding of 1843.

      Elizabeth was living at Halliwell Road, Halliwell at time of marriage to John in 1843 which may be the same road as New Road as both appear adjacent on 1841 census.
      Ruth and the four youngest daughters (Hannah, Mary, Ruth and Rachel) were still there in 1851
