Albert's father was John Henry Doxey and his mother was Lilly Ann Marsland Fidler. His paternal grandparents were Henry Doxey and Mary Ann Dooley; his maternal grandparents were Isaac Marsland Fidler and Margaret Logan. He had two brothers and a sister, named Eric, Laurie and Olive. He was the second oldest of the four children.
