George William Dittmer

George was born in December 1878 in Liverpool.¹

George's father was Johann (Chris) Heinrich Christoph Dittmer and his mother was Katharina (Margaret) Margaretha Maria Heuer. His paternal grandparents were Christian Fredrich Dittmer and Maria Luise Bliesener. He had seven brothers and five sisters, named William or Will, Fred, Henry, Chris, John, Charles, James, Mary, Margaret, Lizzie, Catherine and Evelyn. He was the third oldest of the thirteen children. He had a half-brother and a half-sister, named George and Dorris. He died due to a respiratory problem and/or pneumonia, Asthema,.²

- George worked at Lever Brothers (now Unilever) at Port Sunlight Soap Works. He suffered very badly from asthma, possibly caused by his work. He died before Alice of chest trouble..
