Charles was born in September 1922 in West Derby.1  Charles' father was Hermann (Chris) Hinrich Christopher Dittmer and his mother was Elizabeth (Lilly) Graham.  His paternal grandparents were Johann (Chris) Heinrich Christoph Dittmer and Katharina (Margaret) Margaretha Maria Heuer. He had a brother and three sisters, named Harold, Dora, (Elizabeth) and (Marie).  He died at the age of 6 in March 1929 in West Derby.1
