Susannah was born in 1861 in Bolton.1   Susannah's father was Robert Colderley and her mother was Hannah Howarth. She had four brothers and three sisters, named Robert, William, Henry, William, Ellen, Elizabeth and Jane.  She was the second youngest of the eight children.
