Benjamin Buckley

Benjamin was born on September 25th, 1822 in Bolton and his baptism took place on September 25th, 1822 at Moor Lane Baptist.¹²

Benjamin's father was John Buckley and his mother was Mary Leech. His paternal grandparents were Benjamin Buckley and Sarah Ogden(?). He had two brothers and three sisters, named Cornelius, Jonathon, Sarah, Mary and Ellen. He was the youngest of the six children. He died at the age of 56 in September 1878 in Ashton-under-Lyne.³

      By 1851, except for Mary, their children had left home and they had 9 lodgers and visitors to fill what must have been a big house.
  He lived at 42 Guide Lane for thirty years from 1851 to 1881.¹

      Still there in 1861 with larger family, but by now it is called Guide Road.

      In 1881, the house number is also recorded (as 42). Only Patiens and the 4 youngest children, Ellen, Edith, Bertrice, and Silas remain.
