Thomas was born in March 1891 in Sharples.1  Thomas' father was Charles Brooks and his mother was Matilda Ainsworth. He had a brother named Ernest.  He was the older of the two children. He had eleven half-brothers and two half-sisters, named George, James, Robert, Samuel, Joseph, James, John, Charles, George, William, Robert, Alice and Happy.  He died as an infant in 1891 in Bolton.2
