Frederick was born in March 1850 in Wooburn.1   Frederick's father was William Henry Briggs and his mother was Ann Harman.  His paternal grandparents were William Briggs and Hannah M Briggs; his maternal grandparents were James Harman and Ann Harman. He had five brothers and two sisters, named William, George, Joseph, James, Albert, Mary and Jesse.  He was the oldest of the eight children.  He died at the age of 38 in March 1888 in Bradford.1
