William Henry Boothroyd

William was born in December 1849 in Ashton-under-Lyne.¹

William's father was William R Boothroyd and his mother was Mary Stocks. His maternal grandparents were Benjamin Stocks and Sarah Campinot. He had two brothers and two sisters, named James, George, Eliza and Sarah. He was the third oldest of the five children.

General Notes
- Acording to a letter to uncle Joseph Stocks, William had a son, Walter Boothroyd and a baby Mary in 1875 and was living at Ashton-Under-Lyne. However, on another transcription of the letter it appears it was James and Alice who had the son Walter and baby Mar in Jun 1875. This is more consistant with census records.
  
  There is no trace of William and Mary and their family William, George and Sarah E after 1861. Perhaps they emigrated to the USA with the other members of the family.

- William lived at 25 Kenworthy Street from 1851.²
  He lived at 40 Kenworthy Street from 1861.³

    - William and boys had moved up the road from 25 to no 40 by 1861.
      Mary Boothroyd (nee Stocks) is no longer with them.
