Mary was born in 1814 in Bolton and her christening took place on October 9th, 1814 at St. Peters (Bolton).1  Mary's father was Thomas Bolton and her mother was Mary Ramsden.  Her paternal grandparents were Isaac Bolton and Alice. She had two brothers and three sisters, named Richard, Abraham, Elizabeth, Ann and Maria.  She was the second youngest of the six children.
