Maria was born in 1817 and her christening took place on August 6th, 1817 at St. Peters (Bolton).1  Maria's father was Thomas Bolton and her mother was Mary Ramsden.  Her paternal grandparents were Isaac Bolton and Alice. She had two brothers and three sisters, named Richard, Abraham, Elizabeth, Ann and Mary.  She was the youngest of the six children.
