Mary was born in 1771 in Huddersfield and her christening took place on August 31st, 1771 at St. Peter (Huddersfield).1   Mary's father was Matthew (Matt) Blackburn and her mother was Mary Sykes. She had a brother and a sister, named John and Frances.  She was the youngest of the three children.
