William was born in June 1840 in Wrexham.1  William's father was John Batho and his mother was Mary Collins. He had two brothers and two sisters, named George, John, Mary and Lizzie.  He was the second oldest of the five children.  He died at the age of 56 in September 1896 in Wrexham.2
