Elizabeth was born about 1863 in St. Helens.1   Elizabeth's father was James Barrow and her mother was Hannah Roydes.  Her paternal grandparents were George Barrow and Nancy Greenhalgh. She had three brothers and a sister, named Levi, John, George and Sarah.  She was the oldest of the five children.
