Maria was born in September 1816 at St. Peters (Bolton).1  Maria's father was Samuel Astley and her mother was Nanny Mather.  Her paternal grandparents were James Astley and Mary Bury. She had a brother and a sister, named Samuel and Mary.  She died at the age of 1 in February 1818.  Her burial was on February 4th, 1818 in Bolton.1
