    My great great grandfather.
    
    Solomon Zetler was born in around Poltava, Ukraine.  His father left them when Solomon was a young child, and his mother Roza, a poor and uneducated woman, sent Solomon to go make some money to feed the family. 
    
    Little Solomon had one important asset:  a good musical ear and a beautiful singing voice.  Thus, he went to the local small synagogue, where the Rabbi hired him to sing at prayer times.
    From there he may have moved to a synagogue in Poltava.  But soon his voice began to break.
    
    Again, he was to face unemployment, but he was taken in by a benefactor:  a wealthy childless Jewish woman who owned a fur business and took Solomon in to work as a bellboy in her shop.   Solomon was a quick, hard working, intelligent boy and he quickly became the salesman's right hand. 
    
    By 1914 he was living in Kharkov as a merchant of the 1st guild, trading in fur.
    
    The Zetlers were a close family.  For Solomon, his children's education was a major priority in life.  Moreover, he had retained a great musical memory and deep love of music.  Thus, both his daughters had a twofold professional education: medical degrees as well as musical training at a consevatorium.  His son Daniil had degrees in law, economics and music.
    
    Being a rather wealthy man, Solomon had intended to provide well for his children.  He owned three four-storey houses in Kharkov: one for each of his children.  And yet, when his home was raided, he did not hesitate.  He took his intruders to the basement, showed them where to dig for his hidden gold.  His family was not touched. 
    
    He was of course freed from his wealth and property when the revolution came.  The Zetlers now lived in one flat, in a large house that would have been Lyubov's. 
    
    In their old age,  Solomon and Sima lived with Lyubov and her family.

Vera (Revekkah) Solomonovna Zetler
Revekkah was born on January 15th, 1898.  She died, at the age of 74 years, 9 months and 5 days, on October 20th, 1972 due to a medical problem.
