  • Born in Moscow.  From 1953 lived in Rovno, Ukraine.
    Now lives in Haifa, Israel.
    
    Nina is a cornerstone and inspiration of this project.  I have never met her in person (she had visited us in Kharkov, but I was too young to remember it). 
    
    Some eight years ago, I decided to construct a family tree and splayed  all our "Archive" photos on my parents' bed, asking  "who were they?"  My father thought for a while and said, "We must write to Nina Rahman".
    
    He told me a little about Nina at the time.  Nina as the strong family link, keeper of family history, a great story teller, a passionately devoted daughter to Moisei.
    
    I did not know that Dad actually wrote to Nina until a month or two later, when we received a bulky package from Israel.  Nina had compiled a family tree of all related to Elizaveta and Moisei Rahman:  more than 65 individuals, with 18 pages of description - dates, places, historical notes, personal reflections, anecdotes...
    
    I have translated and edited Nina's letter.  I left out some of her more personal impressions.  I hope that I have done it justice...
