Martha was born in 1906.  Martha's father was Joseph Charles Menne and her mother is Martha Aletta Louisa Mare.  Her paternal grandparents are Theodore Menne and Johanna Wilhelmina Gertrude Hellet. She had three brothers and three sisters, named Victor, Durand, Charles, Louisa, Juana (Johanna) and Magdalena.  She is the youngest of the seven children.
