Mandane bint's father is Astyages ben Cyaxares and her mother is Aryenis bint Alyattes. Her paternal grandfather is Cyaxares of Khshathrita; her maternal grandfather is Alyattes ben Sadyattes. She is the second of three children. She has a brother and a sister, named Cyaxares ben and Amytis bint.
