מהללאל was born in 0395. מהללאל's father was קינן and his mother was Mualeleth bint Enos. His paternal grandparents were אנוש and Naom bint Seth; his maternal grandparents were אנוש and Naom bint Seth. He was the oldest of six children. He had three brothers and two sisters, named Enan ben, Mered ben, Rashujal ben, עדה and Zillah bint. He died, at the age of 895, in 1290.
