Bertha of's father is Pepin III Charles and her mother is Bertrada II Caribert. Her paternal grandparents are Charles of Pepin II and Rotrude daughter Leutwinus; her maternal grandfather is Caribert I Martin. She is the oldest of four children. She has three brothers named Carloman of, Charlemagne of and Pepin IV.
