Hugh I's father is Hugh II Luitfrid II and his mother is Aba.  His paternal grandparents are Luitfrid II Luitfrid and Hiltrude.  He is the third of four children.  He has three sisters named Adelaide de, Bertha de and Irmengard daughter.
