William was born on July 6th, 1718.  William's father was John Laurens Dey and his mother was Ann Brown.  His paternal grandparents were Hans Laurentszen Duyts and Sarah Hance Vincent Fountain. He had five brothers and two sisters, named John, James, David, Vincent, Joseph, Anne and Catherine.  He was the third oldest of the eight children.  He died at the age of 66 on September 6th, 1784.

William and Margaret were married.  They had seven sons and five daughters, named William, Nehemiah, Joseph, John A., Kenneth, Peter, Euphemia, Ann, Lydia, Amy, Margaret and Rebecca.
