Sebastianus was born on March 30th, 1835 in Diest. Sebastianus' father was Gerardus Collin and his mother was Joanna Angelina Van Beckevoort.  His paternal grandparents were Jacobus Ignatius Collin and Anna Catherina De Ferme.  He had a half-brother and a half-sister, named Joseph Baptist and Pelagie.
