Ludo was born on May 15th, 1957.  Ludo's father is Maurice Schoofs and his mother is José Verboven.  His paternal grandparents were Carolus Emilius Schoofs and Stephania Scholastica Theresia Loos.  He has two brothers named Stefan and Yvan.  He is the oldest of the three children.
