Philomena was born on May 5th, 1864 in Lummen.  Philomena's father was Victor Roosen and her mother was Angelina Obrechts.  Her maternal grandparents were Bernard Obrechts and Maria Catherina Moons.  She had two brothers and a sister, named Franciscus, Charles Louis and Carolina.  She was the youngest of the four children.
