Pierre Jean was born on August 18th, 1804 in Lummen.  Pierre Jean's father was Mathieu Postelmans and his mother was Therese Daniels.  His paternal grandparents were Pierre Postelmans and Magdalena Kellen; his maternal grandparents were Jacob Daniels and Marie Therese Postelmans.  He had two brothers and four sisters, named Bernardus, Henricus, Marie, Marie Agnes, Rosa and Catherine.
