Petrus was born in 1734 and his baptism took place on June 30th, 1734 in Lummen.  Petrus' father was Walter Postelmans and his mother was Marie Gompers.  His paternal grandparents were Petrus Postelmans and Elisabeth Lambrechts; his maternal grandparents were Arnoldus Gompers and Elisabeth Aerts.  He had four brothers and two sisters, named Arnold, Joannes, Mathias, Henri, Anna Elisabeth and Marie Catherine.  He was the third oldest of the seven children.
