Maria was born in 1761 and her baptism took place on October 25th, 1761 in Diest.  Maria's father was Carolus Colin and her mother was Maria Paulus.  Her paternal grandparents were Carolus Colin and Anna Maria Gaethofs.  She had two brothers and a sister, named Jacobus, Jacobus and Anna Elisabeth.  She was the second oldest of the four children.
