Pierre was born on February 11th, 1807 in Lummen.1   Pierre's father was Joseph Oyen and his mother was Anna Catharina Gaethofs.  His paternal grandparents are Pierre Oyen and Anna Gijsens; his maternal grandparents were Petrus (Pierre) Gaethofs and Maria Schaenen (Schraenen).  He had two sisters named Angelique and Marie Therese.  He was the oldest of the three children.
