  • It would appear that he (John Payne) was the son of Peter, and not Peter's
    brother John, as formerly supposed. The said will dated Southold, 3 Feb.
    1706-7, proved 3 Oct. 1707, mentions "wife Jemima, das Mary Corye and Martha
    Case, sons Alsop, John and Peter Paine, sons in law Abraham Corye and Henry
    Case, Jr.
    
    Jemima, dau. of Jos and Elizabeth (Preston) Alsop, grda. of William
    and Mary Saybrook Preston was b. in New Haven, 10 Feb, 1670 and m. to John
    Payne 2 March 1691-2.
    
    It is probable (but not proven) that Mary Corye and Martha Case were das.
    
    of Johns 1st wife Mary b. 26 May, 1661 d. 25 Sept. 1690, and buried at
    Southhold. "
    
    Now assuming that you agree with this, I have this part straight. Would
    Henry Case Jr. be the same one who m. Tabitha Vail or Martha Corwin by any
