Luis was born on November 23rd, 1888 in Piracicaba.  Luis' father was Cel Luis (Lulu) Franco do Amaral and his mother is Bertrudes Barbosa Ferraz.  His paternal grandparents were Antonio Franco de Arruda and Guilermina Franco de Morais; his maternal grandparents were Antonio Barbosa Ferraz and Ambrosina Ferraz de Campos. He had a brother and four sisters, named Antonio, Maria Zulmira, Stela, Judith and Antonieta.  He died at the age of 60 on June 4th, 1949 in Rio de Janeiro.
