Ellen was born about November 1848 in Taunton, Somerset, England.  Ellen's father was Thomas Adams and her mother was Mary Ann Bridge. She had two brothers and eight sisters, named Frederic, Thomas, Jane, Matilda, Mary Ann, Julia, Eliza, Louisa Ann, Jane and Lily.  She was the fourth oldest of the eleven children.  She died about 1888 in Taunton, Somerset, England.
