Abraham was born in 1773 in Bridport, Dorset, England.  Abraham's father was Lawrence Ackerman and his mother was Sarah Denziloe. He had two brothers and four sisters, named Edward, Henry, Jane, Dinah, Sarah and Joan.  He was the second oldest of the seven children.  He died at the age of 60 in 1833.
