Frank James' father was Arthur James Dockree and his mother was Constance May Cookson. His maternal grandparents were Charles Frederick Cookson and Constance Emily Gillett. He had three brothers and four sisters, named Arthur Leonard, Walter Gillet, Edmund Louvain, Constance Emily, Kathleen Edith, Hilda Ellen and Betty June. He was the third youngest of the eight children. He died in 1918 in Islington.
