Her paternal grandparents were Adam Clark and Alison Borrowman. She had four brothers and six sisters, named Adam Sprott, William Langlands, James More, John Brown, Agnes, Alison Brown, Catherine Brown, Jane Brown, Maggie and Georgina. She was the fifth oldest of the eleven children.-
