Eggfrida was born in 0973 in Durham, Northumberland, England. Eggfrida's father was Ealdhun (Aeldhun or Aldhun) Bishop of Durham and her mother was Ælgifu Elfreda (Elfgiva) (Alffaed) Gunnarsson.  Her maternal grandparents were Thored Gunnarsson Mercia and Hilda Unknown. She had a half-brother and a half-sister, named Edmund and Edgina.  She died at the age of 94 in December 1067 in England.
