Retha Smith-( e-mail)

“Hi Heather,

Yes, my grandfather is the brother of your great-grandfather. I knew Uncle George very well. I've been to his home many times as a child and young adult. I will send you a copy of the family tree my father and I compiled in 1976 - this was a project began by Uncle George and then taken over by my father and I. I am trying to update it when I have any spare time. I am a teacher and don't have much free time. I would love to visit Pennsylvania sometime next year and revisit the areas where my father and your great-grandfather were raised.

Dad moved to Mississippi because that was where one of my brothers and I  were living in 1974. I left MS is 1979 when I married. He remained there with my brother.

The girl you mention in your family tree as being the child of Lester and Viola is actually my half-sister. Her mother was Sylvia Shawley. Her name was Sara. I never met her. Lester and Viola had four children, 2 boys and 2 girls.
You did have some dates I don't have - I didn't know that Muriel or Russell had died. I have visited with them many times both in Pennsylvania and Florida.

I am currently in contact with George and Janet Hebenthal (Harry's son), Karole Hebenthal (Alton's daughter), and Gary Hebenthal(Dale's grandson). I am trying to update the family tree and would appreciate any help you can give.

Is Leonard Hebenthal your father? I remember Leonard when he still lived with Uncle George and Lorna. Can you supply information about your branch of the family? Look at what I have and please email me any updates you can.
