Janina was born on October 5th, 1896.  Janina's father was Władysław Landy.  Her paternal grandparents were Adam (Abraham) Landy and Szarlotta Wolfshon. She had a brother and two sisters, named Adam, Zofia and Henryka.  She was the second youngest of the four children.  She died at the age of 83 in 1979.
