Sydney was born in June 1927 in Burton-On-Trent.1  Sydney's father was Richard CROXALL and his mother was Sarah Ann JAYES.  His maternal grandparents were George JAYES and Sarah Elizabeth HALLAS. He had a brother named Ronald. He had five half-brothers and two half-sisters, named John, Herbert, Oscar, Charles, Walter, Edith and Mary.  He died at the age of 1 in September 1928 in Burton-On-Trent.1
