Edward was born on August 21st, 1909 in New Zealand.¹ Edward's father was Joseph William COOK and his mother was Kathleen Sarah COOK. His paternal grandparents were John Edward COOK and Fanny HALL. He had five brothers and three sisters, named Joseph, Jack, Bill, Frederick, Robert, Kathleen, Annie and Vi. He was the third youngest of the nine children.
