Robert was born about 1809 in Bangor, County Down, Ireland.  Robert's father was Robert Reid and his mother was Margaret McDonald.  He was an only child.  He died on April 3rd, 1889 in Bells Flat, Yackandandah, Victoria, Australia.  He was buried in Pres Sectn, Row 8, Gr 19, Yackandandah Cemetery.
