George was born in 1870.  George's father was James  Bishop and his mother was Jane Goodhew.  His paternal grandparents were James Bishop and Sarah. He had four brothers and two sisters, named William, James, Frederick , Charles, Sarah and Emily.  He was the youngest of the seven children.
