Emily was born in 1868.  Emily's father was James  Bishop and her mother was Jane Goodhew.  Her paternal grandparents were James Bishop and Sarah. She had five brothers and a sister, named William, James, Frederick , Charles, George and Sarah.  She was the sixth oldest of the seven children.
