Charles was born in 1866.  Charles' father was James  Bishop and his mother was Jane Goodhew.  His paternal grandparents were James Bishop and Sarah. He had four brothers and two sisters, named William, James, Frederick , George, Sarah and Emily.  He was the fifth oldest of the seven children.
