Pieter, known as Pieter, was born on March 21st, 1968.  Pieter's father was Wynand Johannes Petrus “Wynand” Brand and his mother is Ester “Ester” Basson (Brand).  His maternal grandparents were Jan Tobias “Jan” Basson (Basson) and Mrs Anna Magdalena “Anna” Faure (Basson). He had three brothers and two sisters, named Johan, Tobie, Francois, Kiefie and Rhonelle.  Francois and Pieter are identical twins.
